This blog post is SO NOT about paper crafting in general, but I was making posts for Instagram and Facebook the other day, and I saw that October is, among other things, National Positive Attitude Month. How much do we need that right now?!? With Covid and all the negative around us these days, even a little positivity can go a LONG way!
Here’s a great place to start. There’s an article on Mayoclinic.org that talks about how stopping negative self-talk can help reduce stress and bring some positivity into your life. Actually there’s a lot of benefits when you can learn the habit of positive self talk. It fascinates me that having a good attitude has actually been shown to prolong your life!
Here’s some great examples, taken from the article, of replacing negative self talk with positive self talk:
|Negative self-talk||Positive thinking|
|I’ve never done it before.||It’s an opportunity to learn something new.|
|It’s too complicated.||I’ll tackle it from a different angle.|
|I don’t have the resources.||Necessity is the mother of invention.|
|I’m too lazy to get this done.||I wasn’t able to fit it into my schedule, but I can re-examine some priorities.|
|There’s no way it will work.||I can try to make it work.|
|It’s too radical a change.||Let’s take a chance.|
|No one bothers to communicate with me.||I’ll see if I can open the channels of communication.|
|I’m not going to get any better at this.||I’ll give it another try.|
What’s something nice you can say and think about yourself today? Think it, feel it, say it, and have an INCREDIBLE day!
