This blog post is SO NOT about paper crafting in general, but I was making posts for Instagram and Facebook the other day, and I saw that October is, among other things, National Positive Attitude Month. How much do we need that right now?!? With Covid and all the negative around us these days, even a little positivity can go a LONG way!
Here’s a great place to start. There’s an article on Mayoclinic.org that talks about how stopping negative self-talk can help reduce stress and bring some positivity into your life. Actually there’s a lot of benefits when you can learn the habit of positive self talk. It fascinates me that having a good attitude has actually been shown to prolong your life!
Here’s some great examples, taken from the article, of replacing negative self talk with positive self talk:
Negative self-talk | Positive thinking |
---|---|
I’ve never done it before. | It’s an opportunity to learn something new. |
It’s too complicated. | I’ll tackle it from a different angle. |
I don’t have the resources. | Necessity is the mother of invention. |
I’m too lazy to get this done. | I wasn’t able to fit it into my schedule, but I can re-examine some priorities. |
There’s no way it will work. | I can try to make it work. |
It’s too radical a change. | Let’s take a chance. |
No one bothers to communicate with me. | I’ll see if I can open the channels of communication. |
I’m not going to get any better at this. | I’ll give it another try. |
What’s something nice you can say and think about yourself today? Think it, feel it, say it, and have an INCREDIBLE day!
Love, Amy
