Money-Saving Monday: The Superhero Edition!

It’s a new year so it’s time to dust off and resurrect an
old favorite. Please welcome back Money-Saving Monday. This was always
one of the more popular features on Scrap This Save That, so it needs a glorious return!

Even though Christmas is over, along with most of the white
elephant gift giving parties, I thought I would share with you a quick tip for
saving a lot of money on white elephant gifts. Although I know traditionally
white elephant gifts should be a gag gift or regifting something unwanted, I
always like to bring nice presents that I think people will get a lot of use
out of. It’s always fun to have the popular present that everybody wants to “steal!!”  With that in mind, I made superhero cards and envelopes to take to our
last white elephant party of the season. They were perfect for the crowd that
was there.

I found a Batman and a Superman logo in the Silhouette Store
and use them as the basis to create my cards. I used the outlined shape of the logos
to create a shaped card for each. This was done by duplicating each shape and
welding them together. I love the fact that I can design and do things like
that with my Silhouette Cameo.  Love that machine!!

Next I made the standard envelope and rounded the edges on
the flap. I cut small logos to go on the back of each flap. I think it really
added a nice extra touch to the envelope. For the black Batman envelopes, even
though you can’t see it in the picture, I cut a white panel for the front of
the envelope so that the sender would be able to write on it without having to use a special pen.

I hope you like the cards and the resurrection of Money
Saving Monday. What interesting white elephant gifts did you give or receive
this past Christmas?

Happy Scrapping!

Dude, these are so cool! There aren't too many manly cards out there that dudes would actually keep! This one I think they might!

I looked in the Silhouette store and can't find the Batman logo anywhere. My grandson's first birthday is coming up and my daughter wants to do a Batman theme. Do you happen to have the link to the file?
