Christmas In September?

Merry Christmas!  Um…I mean, happy Thursday!  I’m getting a little ahead of myself, but I just can’t help it since I’m in the mood, thanks to our Scrapbook Challenge this week over at MFP Speedy TV.    This week, the challenge is celebrating Christmas in September by making a Christmas themed layout.

Remember this challenge is strictly scrapbook layouts, no cards please.  You have to use stamps on your pages. They don’t have to be Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co stamps but if you do use them you will be entered twice for a chance to win.  And here’s the super-cute stamp you could possibly win this week!  Love love love this stamp!
Here’s my contribution for the week.  I’m a little embarrassed to say, that I’m scrapping Christmas photos from 2005! Yup…I’m a little behind!

In our family, for some weird twisted reason, we love to see who can give a gift so thoughtful and special, that it makes the recipient cry!  Yeah, we’re weird!  But you get a lot of thoughtful special gifts that way!  One of the pages of my layout represent that back in 2005.  At the beginning of December that year, my husband got diagnosed with his third round of cancer…Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, that time around.  Without going into all the gory details, it was pretty scary.  Our daughter took it particularly hard since she was away at college and couldn’t spend all the time at home that she wanted.  She was still home on the weekends, but it was rough on her.

That year for Christmas, among other goodies, we decided to buy her a fancy new journal.  She had completed her last one and needed a replacement.  Hubby and I decided to put a photo of the two of us in there and we each wrote her a loving, heart-felt note on the first few pages.  Of course with emotions running high, she read them and sobbed.  And of course, being the twisted Mommy that I am, I was right there to take pics of it all!  Thus the title, “We Got Her!”  Ha ha!
The second page of my layout is just some random cute pics we took during present opening time!   We always have lots of fun on Christmas morning!
I decided to incorporate some more of the cute little tags I made from the Mark’s Finest Paper Holiday Tag stamp set. They went just perfect on the layouts and I love the extra sparkle and shine it gives the pages.

Only 96 more shopping days til Christmas!  Ugh…did I really just say that?  See you soon!

Happy Scrapping!
