Money-Saving Monday…on Tuesday #6

Well, I’m running just a tad late (or maybe a whole day late!) for this installment of Money-Saving Monday, but I’m hoping you’ll think it’s worth the wait!  Today’s tip is about making your Cricut cutting mats go farther.  How?  Well by cutting them in half of course!

You can get a package of 2 Cricut cutting mats that are 12 x 24 inches for about $10 – $12 if you catch a good sale or use a coupon at Joanns.  Once you take them out of the package, but before you take the plastic cover off the sticky part, cut the mat in half, right down the 12 inch mark, being careful to stay right on the line and making your cut as straight as possible.  Once cut, you’ll use the markings on the mat like usual, and your paper will be positioned right at that cut edge, so you want it straight.  When you’re ready to use your cut mats, just insert the green edge first (see illustration above) and your cuts will be gauged perfectly.

For around $10 – $12, you’ll wind up with 4 cutting mats.  That’s about $2.50 – $3 per mat!  Yay for saving money!

ya for saving money!! I really should cut my 12x 24 mat in half, it is way to big to try and put through the machine and I can't seem to find paper that is 12x 24 unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for it!! Have a great day!!

Have you seen the tip about respraying the mats? Use Krylon Easy-Tack repositionable adhesive and the mats will be like new.
