Money-Saving Monday #5

Happy Monday, and welcome to a fresh new week!  Now with that being said…ARGH!!  I got so busy working on a project from (okay, cover your ears because I’m just going to say it) hell, that I completely forgot to schedule today’s post!

Today’s money-saving advice…if you lightly coat the tip of your hot glue gun with a little Vaseline, it will keep you from getting all those horrible pesky glue strings everywhere while you’re working!  I can hear you right now thinking, “but Amy E, although that’s a spif-a-rific tip, how can that help save me money?”  Well, here’s your answer, and since I don’t have a photograph for you today, allow me to paint you a picture!

Let’s just say you’re working in your craft room, happily enjoying your day and your creativity.  You’re working on a huge project with foam core board that you’ve never attempted before, and your head is about to explode from all the math you’ve endured in order to make your project fit together properly.  Everything is coming together beautifully (after only 12 hours of pulling your hair out by the roots) and at this point you’re excited to know that you’ll be able to go to bed at a decent hour with you husband (if 1:30 am is a decent hour and you’re married to a Vampire.)  It’s time for the hot glue, and you must work fast because the foam melts and sets the glue quickly. Where is that jar of Vaseline???  Oh well, no biggie.  Here it comes…snap 5 different things into place in their allotted slots at one time but before they go all the way in, GLUE!  Boom boom boom boom boom…five places glued at one time and moved in place before the pieces set! Victory!  Smile at the glue gun you’re holding, and pat yourself on the back for being a glue gun/foam core guru!

Now follow the math closely on this next part:

September = Autumn

Autumn in Seattle = Spiders

Spiders = spiderwebs

Spiders and spiderwebs on your skin = the creepy crawlies

Previously mentioned speed-gluing session = tiny microscopic strands of glue all over your arms and legs

Tiny microscopic strands of glue all over your arms and legs from previously mentioned speed-gluing session = the feeling of spiderwebs

Spiderwebs = creepy crawlies, especially at 1:30 in the morning when your head is spinning and you’re sleep deprived.

Creepy crawlies at 1:30 am = throwing whatever is in your hands to free them to remove the spiderwebs (or glue strands) from your body

Throwing your glue gun through your craft room window at 1:30 am = $200 window replacement

NOW…do you see how using your Vaseline to prevent all those pesky little glue strands can save you money?!?!?!

HAPPY MONDAY!!

Disclaimer: No windows or glue guns were harmed in the painting of this picture.  There were however, some frayed nerves and an over-active imagination  that will never-again be normal.

Happy Scrapping!
